Update (13/06/21): This island has been completely redone. The pictures under this listing are mere memories of what once was.
Malia is now a quaint little town, made to look as realistic as possible (an arduous task). Item lag has vanished -- we are overjoyed.
The first thing out of the airport is Malia's city centre, featuring your essential stores, busy streets, train stations and the homes of the creator and her favored villagers (Raymond and Beau). Stop by lookout point atop the city centre for a nice view of the reservior below and the extensive forest that flanks the island of Malia.
On the east of the island lives Zucker, who mans (or octopuses) the fishing docks and a little ramen stall. Maybe try your luck with shark fishing. Nearby is the campsite on the beach -- bask by the fire or barbecue some kebabs.
As you venture north into the suburbs, best neighbors Freckles and Chief have set up a bakery -- get your refreshments here before moving on into the dense forest. Not much going on in the forest, just know that it gets very dark at night.
On the west of the island is yet another neighborhood with its own little treasure trove of must-sees! Particularly, the boardwalk flea market by the museum is a great place to pick up some knick knacks for your loved ones!
The southern coastline hosts a black market run by one particularly shady villager on the island. Come grab your wares but don't get caught. On the west beaches there are half-hearted attempts at excavating the most random of ruins -- how'd they get there? No one knows for sure.
Make your way to the back of the island to enjoy a peaceful nap as the sunsets and the dream comes to a close!
